Personal:

I was married in 1997 to my beautiful wife Lybi (confessions of a piano teacher on the blog), and we have 3 wonderful boys who are just as active as I was when I was little (he he). I grew up in southeastern Michigan, and my family became members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 6. I attended BYU, and served a mission in Berlin, Germany. After graduating from BYU with a degree in Health and Human Performance (pre-physical therapy), I promptly changed careers and started working with computers (although no programming for me). We have moved across the country several times, and currently live in Mesa, AZ.  I work in computer security for a major nationwide homebuilder.

Lunch - ran outside today.  Although it was fairly hot (about 100), it was still pretty nice.  I found that my legs had a great deal more pop in them then they do in the evening, which was nice, and it also seemed to be easier for me cardiovascular-wise, although that may just be due to the fact that my fitness is improving.  Nevertheless, I enjoyed the run, but was sweating like crazy afterwards.  Average pace of 7:45/mile.

Lunch - 3.11 (5K) on the treadmill at the fitness center.  My little run outside yesterday served to turn my shoulders as red as a cooked lobster, so I will be inside for a few days while my sunburn heals.  Steady 8:00 pace for the entire run.  Felt pretty good.

AM - 4 glorious miles in the morning before work.  Compared to running at noon or in the evening, it was a heavenly 78 degrees out.  The only drawback for me to running in the morning is that it takes me a little while to get going, whereas at noon my legs are nice and warmed up and have some pop to them right from the get-go.  But I will take having to warm up along with the cooler temps for now over having to run inside on the treadmill or outside in 100 degree heat.  Once the temps cool down during the day, I will probably switch to doing most of my miles at lunchtime.

Lunch - 4 miles inside on the treadmill at the fitness center at 8:00/mile.  Felt pretty good, but I was definitely sweating a great deal, even though it wasn't hot in there.

Lunch - 4 easy miles on the treadmill at the fitness center again.  I was originally hoping to get up early and run this morning before work, but it was not to be.  Average pace of 8:00/mile.  Felt a little difficult at first, but then I got into a rhythm, and it got much easier.
