Personal:

I was married in 1997 to my beautiful wife Lybi (confessions of a piano teacher on the blog), and we have 3 wonderful boys who are just as active as I was when I was little (he he). I grew up in southeastern Michigan, and my family became members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 6. I attended BYU, and served a mission in Berlin, Germany. After graduating from BYU with a degree in Health and Human Performance (pre-physical therapy), I promptly changed careers and started working with computers (although no programming for me). We have moved across the country several times, and currently live in Mesa, AZ.  I work in computer security for a major nationwide homebuilder.

Yay!  I finally got to get out and run a little bit again.  I never did go see a doctor about my foot, just rested it for quite a bit, and will see how things go, but I am going to start running again, nice and easy.  Did 2 easy miles in the evening (monsoon weather) that let me know my fitness has really taken a nosedive since I stopped running due to the foot injury.  Felt pretty good, put some ice on the foot afterwards as a precaution, and will see how things feel tomorrow to see if I do another couple miles in the evening.  Average pace of 7:45/mile.

PM - 3 easy miles outside.  Weather was still warm and fairly humid due to a storm that rolled through last night, as well as another storm that was brewing on the horizon.  Good ol' monsoon season!  Foot felt okay today.  Took it a little easier today, average pace of 8:02/mile.  I think that 3 miles/day will be tops for at least a couple weeks, and I will re-evaluate at that time to see how the foot is doing.  If at any point in time the foot flares up again, I will shut things down again and finally break down and go see a doctor.

PM - ran 2 miles outside in the evening. I was originally planning on either 2 or 3 miles, depending on how I felt. the foot felt fine, but my calves started to tighten up, so I decided to call it quits at 2 miles. average pace of 8:08 per mile.

PM - ran 2 miles outside. I was thinking about running 3 miles, but my calves got fairly tight, so I called it quits at 2 miles. better to take it easy than to overdo it and get injured again.

AM - 2 miles outside. average pace of 7:52/mile. I felt pretty good today, no tightness in my calves, but I still want to take it easy and build up very gradually. I think once I lose some of the weight I gained over the last month I will start to feel better.

AM - 3 easy miles at 8:00 pace. it felt easier than yesterday, and I was able to keep a more constant pace today, where I was speeding up yesterday (although unintentionally). I ran with the Garmin today, which helped.

PM - ran 3 miles outside after we put the youngest two boys down.  Average pace of 8:01/mile.  Felt pretty good, but again feeling the lack of fitness on my runs.  I am going to keep with the 3 miles/day through next week, and then maybe start to ratchet things up a little bit.  Foot is still feeling fine.  I am hopeful that things may have been resolved with the rest.

PM - 3 miles outside after the boys were down.  Felt pretty good in spite of the heat, no problems with the foot.  I hope that in the coming weeks my fitness will start to come around so that these runs start to feel easier than they do right now.
