Personal:

I was married in 1997 to my beautiful wife Lybi (confessions of a piano teacher on the blog), and we have 3 wonderful boys who are just as active as I was when I was little (he he). I grew up in southeastern Michigan, and my family became members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 6. I attended BYU, and served a mission in Berlin, Germany. After graduating from BYU with a degree in Health and Human Performance (pre-physical therapy), I promptly changed careers and started working with computers (although no programming for me). We have moved across the country several times, and currently live in Mesa, AZ.  I work in computer security for a major nationwide homebuilder.

Lunch - 4.75 miles on the treadmill at the fitness center.  Read an interesting article this morning regarding weight loss and intervals that made me want to try it out.  Decided to do some longer interval sessions at MP, and some short sessions at about 1/2 marathon pace.  The workout felt really good, but my foot is a little bit sore afterwards.  Will ice it when I get home.

Lunch - 4.5 miles on the treadmill today.  I am happy to report that after some soreness in my foot yesterday, it feels better today.  Although I didn't get a chance to ice it like I had planned, I did get to go for a walk with my wife later in the evening, and I think that helped.  First 20 minutes at 8:00 pace, then bumped up the pace (accidentally) to 7:00/mile.  I had meant to increase only to 7:30 pace, but didn't realize it until I had run a mile and I was ahead of where I had anticipated.  Last mile at 7:30 pace.  Wore my HR monitor chest strap again today.  HR was pretty good for the first mile - in the 140's, but then it started climbing up.  This is where I can tell my aerobic/cardiovascular fitness is still lacking.

Lunch - hit the treadmill again.  Since the foot felt better yesterday, I decided I would go ahead and do some more interval training to try and get the weight off.  4 minutes at 8:00 pace, followed by 4 minutes at 7:00 pace, then 2 minutes at 6:20 pace, repeated thrice.  Finished up with another 2 minutes at 6:20 pace and then cooled down with 4 more minutes at approx. 8:00 pace to hit a total of 5 miles.  Total time of 36:00 for the run.  The good news is that the foot felt fine.  Stretched out a little bit afterwards, especially the foot and calves.
