Personal:

I was married in 1997 to my beautiful wife Lybi (confessions of a piano teacher on the blog), and we have 3 wonderful boys who are just as active as I was when I was little (he he). I grew up in southeastern Michigan, and my family became members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 6. I attended BYU, and served a mission in Berlin, Germany. After graduating from BYU with a degree in Health and Human Performance (pre-physical therapy), I promptly changed careers and started working with computers (although no programming for me). We have moved across the country several times, and currently live in Mesa, AZ.  I work in computer security for a major nationwide homebuilder.

Ran in the evening after dinner.  Sasha is right, eating the right food makes a big difference in terms of how quickly after dinner one is able to eat.  I ran about 30 minutes after dinner, no problem at all during the run with my stomach.  Tried to make this an easy recovery run.  Went a different way than normal, and after going through some construction zones where there was barely enough room to run, decided that it was not a good area to run, turned around and headed off another way to get in some more miles before I turned back for home.  The run felt very good - it was a nice stress reliever from a very difficult day at work.  Total distance was 7 miles, total time was 53:52, average pace of 7:42/mile.  I am happy with this run.

I'm amazed you run 30 mins after dinner and at a decent pace. What did you eat! I have problems running after eating and try not to eat anything 2-3 hrs before. I always feel queasy during races and both my marathons I could only take fluids onboard, the gels I took stayed in my pocket. Also I struggle to eat directly after running. Good training James, a different approach, you seem to include elements of speed in most of your runs.

For me, how soon I can run after a meal highly correlates with how much cholesterol the meal had.

To tell the truth, I was kind of surprised, too. I had seasoned tilapia with white rice and peas. All very light dishes, and very mild. I have had problems in the past when eating heavier foods, anything with red meat or that is acidic.
