AM - dragged my behind out of bed to go for a run, since I knew I would not be able to run this evening. Ran 5.2 miles on my own, total time of 40:39, average pace of 7:49/mile. Picked it up on the last 1.2 miles, because it felt good. Made another observation that when I consciously push my hips back, my stride automatically lengthens and becomes more efficient even at the same turnover, resulting in a faster pace at the same perceived effort. Remembered something Lydiard said that it is when our legs are straightened that we have maximum power. Ran another 0.8 with Sparky in 6:03, average pace of 7:32/mile. He was pulling me practically the entire time. Total distance was 6.0 miles. |
